Google Sandbox? Vancouver Real EState

Nov. 25, 2008

Google Sandbox

Google has thrown me a drift yet again by pushing one of my websites that was ranking number one page for “Vancouver Real Estate” to page seven.  This has happened to me before when optimizing another site for “PEI Real Estate” it was jumping all over the place and now it is pretty consisent to the first page of Google.  Anyways it is not a fun situation to be in and I have been contemplating the best way to bump it back up.

According to Wikipedia: The phenomenon that people have claimed to observe is that Google temporarily reduces the page rank of new domains, placing them into what is referred to as its "sandbox", in an effort to counter the ways that search engine optimizers attempt to manipulate Google's page ranking to bring sites to the top, by creating lots of inbound links to a new web site from other web sites that they own....”

This issue here is that it is not a new domain.  The website has been live for more than a year.  The Pagerank for the Vancouver real estate company is doing well at 4.   I had been making some progress after the initial fall and had it back to position number 11 and then it took a nose dive.  To survive the sandbox you just have to keep plugging away.

Vancouver Real Estate Here I Come

I guess this is why it pays to run your paid campaigns along with an organic campaign. You can never guarantee that the website will be on the first page.  This is my number one project right now as I have been getting great results with my other real estate client’s.  I know that getting result’s in Google takes time but that is the last thing that my clients want to hear.  But I have been through this before and I’m confident I’ll be back on the front page. I'm just going to have to work extra hard at developing links for the website.

Anyways back to work.
